General Information

The world's steel industry is following up on the ongoing transformations in the international economy and goes on reassessing its structure and strategies to remain competitive. This process has significant impact on the Brazilian steel industry and on Brazil's position in the global scenario.

The main implications of this new scenario will be the core subjects of the debates to be held during the 21st Brazilian Steel Conference, sponsored by the Brazil Steel Institute, on April 14-16, 2010 at Transamérica Expo Center, in São Paulo. Representatives of the Government and of Brazilian and international steel companies, besides experts in various steel-related subjects will be attending the debates.

President Lula was present at the opening ceremony in 2007 and visited the stands at the event, which gathered 1,000 attendants among congress participants and visitors. Besides attending lectures given by Brazilian and foreign speakers, participants could be in touch with steel and mining companies and suppliers of equipment, services and technological innovations for the steel production chain.

The 2007 exhibitors were CSN, Arcelor Brasil, Gerdau, Usiminas/Cosipa, MMX, White Martins, Vale, Multiserv, Siemens Vai, V&M do Brasil, Votorantim, Aços Villares, Druck Brasil, ABM, Enfil, Triunfo and Danieli do Brasil.
