The investments made by Votorantim
Metais in the social area follow the guidelines of
Grupo Votorantim, which stipulate education as the priority
and people between 12 and 25 years old as the target of its
action.
Created in December, 2002, the entity aims
at promoting the concept of social responsibility and consolidating
such culture within the organization. The initiatives include
capacitation of teachers and students from public schools,
providing access for children and teenagers to sports, stimulating
collaborators to participate in volunteer actions and technical
and professional formation.
The investments of such actions are aligned
with the Company’s purpose of contributing to the development
of the locations where it operates. Furthermore, Votorantim
Metais invests continuously in technologies and actions to
ensure the preservation of the environment and the well-being
of these communities.
Throughout the company’s business
units, the improvement of production processes is combined
with the adequate treatment and destination of solid and liquid
waste and emissions. The zinc and nickel metallurgic plants
have the certification ISO 14001, which analyzes processes
