The privatization brought into the sector a significant inflow of capital, with various shareholder structures. Thus, many producing companies became part of industrial and/or financial groups whose interest in the steel industry unfolded into related activities, or into logistic support, aiming at reaching economies of scale and competitiveness.
The producing park is relatively new and is undergoing a technological updating process. It is able to deliver to the market any kind of steel product, as long as its production is economically justifiable.
Based on their main output, the mills may be classified as follows:
- Semi-finished (ingots, billets and blooms)
- Carbon steel flat (plates and coils)
- Specialty / alloy steel flat (plates and coils)
- Carbon steel long (bars, shapes, wires, rods and seamless tubes and pipes)
- Specialty / alloy steel long (bars, shapes, wires, rods and seamless tubes and pipes)
